Charity Committee

The Charity committee organizes and conducts charity events sponsored by the Grand Haven Women’s Golf Association.  A designated person is chosen/volunteers for each event.  These have included and are not limited to:

Food Pantry donations - usually collected on Opening and Closing Days and on Stableford game days.  Donations can be monetary or non-perishable food items.

Angel Tree donations (at December holiday time).  A local donation site is chosen by GHWGA.   Gift tags with children’s “Wishes” are put on the Christmas tree in the club lobby, including the age and sex of the child.  Those interested can pick “Angel Tags” and purchase the requested gifts.  Details are provided each year about the donation site and gift guidelines (e.g., maximum cost, wrapped vs. unwrapped, deadline, etc.).  The Club has recently been involved by sponsoring an “Angel Tree Golf Tournament” to encourage players to select “Angel Tags” to be used as Mulligans in the tournament.

Charity Golf Tournament – A local Charity is chosen, and the committee organizes the event with the cooperation and support of the Club.  A designated donation amount is included in the tournament entry fee.  Additional money is raised by raffling off gift baskets and through silent auctions.  This tournament is for Women only and can include guests.
